The 2017 Readings Children’s Book Prize shortlist announced three weeks ago, continues to influence, with four shortlisted books on our bestsellers list: A Most Magical Girl, Escape to the Moon Islands, Grover Finds a Home and The Secrets We Keep.
All six shortlisted titles are available in a specially priced bundle ($79.95, ).
The list also features three picture books that have proven to be firm staff favourites: picture book legend Mem Fox’s inclusive ode to Australia, I’m Australian Too; the ever-popular In My Heart: A Book of Feelings; and the gorgeous and comforting Under the Love Umbrella.
We’re hosting a special Under the Love Umbrella story time this Saturday 18 March, 10.30am at Readings Kids.
For older readers – we have a vivid story of rebuilding and recovery after the 2011 Japanese tsunami, Hotaka: Through My Eyes - Natural Disaster Zones. This book, the first in a new series, was launched at our Hawthorn shop last week. It’s suitable for ages 11 and up.
And last, but certainly not least, the upcoming movie adaptations sees the very excellent YA novel, Everything Everything back into the bestsellers. Readers of ages 13 and up who love romance will enjoy this story of a cloistered teen who makes a connection with the boy next door.
