Andy Griffiths and Terry Denton continue their reign of hilarity with The 78-Storey Treehouse as our bestselling children’s book for another week in a row.
We’re also pleased to see the 2016 winner of the Readings Children’s Book Prize, Run, Pip, Run, is still finding its way into many new homes. This funny, moving story for readers 9+ comes with our highest recommendation.
Two very different (and both wonderful) Australian YA novels have also made our top ten bestsellers this week. Lili Wilkinson’s The Boundless Sublime is the story of a teenage girl who is seduced into a modern-day cult, and Zana Fraillon’s The Bone Sparrow is the story of a boy who has never known life outside an immigration detention centre. The latter title was recently longlisted for the Guardian Children’s Fiction Prize.
Both the picture books featured in our bestsellers list are also from Australian authors. Aaron Blabey’s new book is the story of Warren the Koala (who is definitely NOT a bear), and Welcome to Country is a gorgeous celebration of Indigenous land and culture from Wurundjeri Elder Aunty Joy Murphy and artist Lisa Kennedy.
