Last week, the Doncaster Middle Fiction Book Club was joined by Mat Larkin, debut author of The Orchard Underground, for our inaugural Meet the Author session. It is always a delight to see local authors interact with young audiences and Mat took it in his stride, tackling the full force of the kids’ curiosity and enthusiasm. Together, we discussed the challenges of being an author, crafting great characters and overcoming the dreaded writers’ block. Our book club was also lucky enough to get a sneak peek into Mat’s next book, currently in the works!

Next term kicks off with Fantasy Week on the 7th of June, when we will be discussing Bob by Wendy Mass and Rebecca Stead. The complete book list and dates for the upcoming term can be found below.

Our next Meet The Author session will be with Judith Rossell, discussing Withering-By-Sea, the first book in her best selling Stella Montgomery series. This will be the last session in our next term, on Friday the 19th of July.
