Matthew Condon on crime and corruption in Queensland’s history
In Jacks and Jokers, a sequel to the explosive Three Crooked Kings, Matthew Condon provides another fascinating account of the corruption and power struggles that defined an era in Queensland’s history.This tale will shock, outrage and force you to question the very foundations that have made Queensland what it is today.

Betty Churcher on Australian Notebooks
Betty Churcher AO is one of Australia’s most loved cultural commentators. A Fellow of the Australian Academy of the Humanities, she was director of the Art Gallery of Western Australia and of the National Gallery of Australia from 1990 to 1997. Earlier in her life she was a painter and won a scholarship to Europe, where she became an associate graduate of the Royal College of Art, London. In her latest book, Australian Notebooks, Betty revisits some of the artworks she most cherishes. This is an extraordinary opportunity to hear Betty talk about her most loved art, her life and why the two are intertwined.

We’re delighted to announce that Henry Carroll, author of the practical and playful Read This If You Want to Take Great Photographs, will be leading a learning walking tour through Carlton, sharing tips and ideas for photography enthusiasts. Places are limited.
