Tipo 00: The Pasta Cookbook

by Andreas Papadakis

Tipo 00 is named for the specialty flour used in the restaurant's signature high quality pasta. This reverence for quality and committment to simplicity carries over into their food, which has had a cult following in Melbourne for years. Tipo 00 is owned by renowned chef Andreas Papadakis, who was previously the chef of haute cuisine powerhouse Vue de Monde, and has now shared some of the secrets behind Tipo 00's favourite dishes in Tipo 00: The Pasta Cookbook.

The Tipo 00 book was released just this week and has already shot up our bestsellers chart (alongside another new Melbourne cookbook included in this list . . . ), so make sure you snap up a copy fast! And there's never going to be a better time to buy it, because purchasing a copy before August 31st will give you a chance to win a $300 voucher to Tipo 00 Pasta Bar! Find out more here.

Chae

by Jung Eun Chae

Chae is a tiny Korean restaurant in Cockatoo, just outside of Melbourne. And while on the outside it may just look like someone's house (because it is), inside, diners will be treated to an intimite, authentic and all around unforgettable meal. The restaurant, which is part of Chef Jung Eun Chae's home, seats just six people, so bookings are notoriously hard to come by. But fortunately, buying a copy of the Chae cookbook will not only help you recreate these delicious Korean dishes at home, but will also put you in the draw to win dinner for two at the restaurant!

Get your copy now to start exploring Korean slow food and fermentation at home, and give you the chance for a truly once in a lifetime meal! Find more about the competition here.

Tarts Anon

by Gareth Whitton & Catherine Way

Like the Tipo 00 book, Tarts Anon came out just this week and is already at the top of our bestsellers chart! Clearly most Melburnians have already heard of Tarts Anon, the bakery that started in lockdown with the singular focus of perfecting the art of tart making. They've now expanded to two stores, one in Cremorne and one in Collingwood, that operate 7 days a week providing world-class desserts with incredible sweet and savoury flavours. And now, with the Tarts Anon cookbook, we have the chance to experience the deliciousness of the tarts, without stressing about getting a pre-order in on time!

The Fishmonger's Son

by Anthony Yotis & Laura di Florio Yotis

The Fishmonger’s Son is a tribute to renowned fishmonger, Konstantinos Yotis. For more than 40 years, Kon and his brother presided over a much-loved seafood stall at Footscray’s wholesale market. Now, second generation fishmonger Anthony Yotis and his partner Laura Di Florio Yotis are carrying on the tradition of selling top-quality, seasonal fish and freshly made seafood from their store in Carlton North. And they've released The Fishmonger's Son cookbook to provide invaluable information, advice and recipes based on the most popular fish and shellfish to cook at home. This is the ultimate home cook's guide to buying, preparing and cooking the incredible seafood we have available in Australia.

Rumi: Food of Middle Eastern Appearance

by Joseph Abboud

Named after the 13th-century poet, Rumi Restaurant reflects Chef Joseph Abboud's Lebanese Middle Eastern roots, with a chic contempory style. Based around sharing plates in a homey, banquet style, Rumi combines a warm and inviting feel with award winning food.

The Rumi cookbook, Rumi: Food of Middle Eastern Appearance, came out last year with the mission to share Abboud's egalitarian ethos and straightforward cooking, while also challenging the way the phrase "of Middle Eastern appearance" is so often used in Western media to evoke fear and prejudice. The result is a beautiful cookbook, full of delicious and achievable recipes that home cooks can master and make their own.

Chinese-ish

by Rosheen Kaul & Joanna Hu

Chinese-ish is the product of a collaboration between illustrator and passionate foodie, Joanna Hu, and Rosheen Kaul, the chef at beloved Melbourne restaurant Etta. The result is a cookbook that explores the Chinese heritage of the two women in a way that prioritises fusing modern Australian cooking with traditional Chinese flavours. It's food that's proudly self-proclaimed "Not Quite Authentic, 100% delicious". Chinese-ish celebrates confidently blending the authors' cultures and identities through food, enabling them, and readers, to embrace tradition while not being beholden to it.

All these books are worth exploring, but don't forget that throughout August, buying Tipo 00: The Pasta Cookbook or Chae will put you in the draw to win an incredible meal at a Melbourne icon!
