Owl Know How by Cat Rabbit & Isobel Knowles
Oh my! Here in my hands is sweetness and delight: sheer creative joy! The papercraft endpapers of Owl Know How herald a handmade world of invention and patience along with a team of crafty rabbits, not to mention adorable owls. We are introduced to a serene Cloud Town but a few pages in and the stick monsters are causing consternation and mayhem. What to do? Well, under the able direction of Cornelia Rabbit, the residents devise a rescue plan and work together to save Cloud Town.
Can they do it? Every time you read Owl Know How you see something new; another quirky detail that makes you appreciative of the creative nurture that has gone into this picture book. Hopefully readers will be inspired to use the pattern (with clear instructions) in the back of the book to create their own owl. The Readings test audience of 24 grade ones laughed, puzzled and ultimately just wanted to get their sewing gear out. The story is suited to younger children but the illustrations will beguile any age.
For ages 3 and up.
