Good Material by Dolly Alderton
Dolly Alderton has done it again. Whether you’re a regular fan, or this is your first experience of a Dolly Alderton book, you won’t be disappointed.
In Good Material, we follow 35-year-old Andy, who has just been dumped by his girlfriend, Jen. He’s the only single one out of all of his friends, he’s a struggling comedian, and he can’t afford to live by himself. Now, he’s navigating being single again and adjusting to a life without Jen.
I loved this fresh perspective on love and partnerships. Andy is incredibly relatable and I found his inner monologue to be humorous throughout. It was a refreshing point of difference to read from a male point of view written by this author. I found all of the characters memorable, including Andy’s best friend, Avi. The ending was also an interesting surprise, and definitely added something different to my experience of the story.
I really enjoyed my time with this novel, and I highly recommend it!
