It had to happen eventually, didn’t it? A chicklit novel set in the world of publishing. Longtime publishing insider Airlie Lawson has written the book world’s answer to The Devil Wears Prada – only, in this case, the devil is Eve, ‘a plump Barbie doll of indeterminate age’ who wears outlandish outfits (leather bustier, anyone?), attempts to seduce trembling young authors, reads glossy mags instead of books and hires a schoolmarmish ex-crim as her PA/sidekick.

Jess, a young publisher currently in favour because everyone thinks she’s still dating the business partner of their most lucrative author, Alex (a celebrity chef, of course), is on a bizarre secret mission to teach Eve a lesson. Along the way, there’s an attraction between her fashion-designer best friend and her frenemy colleague, a sports publisher; pursuit by a dashing but annoying magazine writer; and the problem of Alex deciding to never write another book. Don’t Tell Eve has plenty of inside jokes and barbed witticisms – and tangled sexual tension galore.
