SEX, ROCK AND MAYHEM! is the autobiography of Monica Mayhem, a young woman from the Brisbane suburbs who became a star in the American adult film industry. She is the best-known porn star from Down Under, a rarity in a business employing very few Australians. Hers is the story of a girl who transcended child abuse to achieve a corporate resume in the banking/finance world of Sydney before becoming an exotic dancer in London and finally a X-rated icon in the fabled San Fernando Valley of Los Angeles. The book charts her unusual career path – she had spent six years as a financial markets executive, starting in Sydney with Westpac and then Lloyds Bank/ABN AMRO (in foreign exchange settlements) followed by Commonwealth Bank (on her way up towards being an assistant financial controller in the futures broking department), before moving to London where she joined Salomon Smith Barney’s IPE (International Petroleum Exchange) brokerage. Frustrated by corporate life, she quit and entered the adult film arena in December 2000, making an immediate impression by winning the coveted “Starlet of the Year” award in 2001 and then the “Vixen of the Year” award in 2002. After more than 400 movies and magazine layouts, Monica began a career transition as a rock singer with her band (hence the title SEX, ROCK AND MAYHEM!), which occurred just before she won a part in the recent Sex and the City movie, her mainstream film debut.
