This is the picture book of choice this year and it is sheer perfection in every respect! There is so much to love about this book. The rhyming structure reads effortlessly and is lyrical and songlike from page to page. There is a delightful energy and emotional uplift as the story progresses. Each page-spread holds so much detail and the illustrations burst with colour and joy. But best of all, I love that this story celebrates the fixation and obsessional quirks that so many children experience when it comes to their favourite things. And if you find yourself on many a repeat read of a child’s favourite book then you’ll want it to be an exceptional one like this.
A treasure of a book that celebrates the love of reading, the joy of visiting bookish places like libraries and bookshops and the value of good community connection these places provide. For ages 3+.
