What an absolute treat – three newly translated books by the world-famous author of Pippi Longstocking, Astrid Lindgren. First published in Swedish in 1946, these are well-written, exciting detective mysteries featuring three young adventurers. Kalle and best friends Eva-Lotta and Anders are knights of the White Roses, who battle every summer against the dastardly Red Roses in the Wars of the Roses.
They spy on one another, write insulting letters, have swordfights and take turns stealing the Great Stonytotem. It’s all in fun, but whilst having their great adventures Kalle often seems to stumble upon a true mystery. Despite living in a sleepy village, master thieves, murderers and kidnappers regularly turn up. The White Roses are often put in real peril as they attempt to catch the criminals for the village policeman.
These are funny, fast-paced detective mysteries that are perfect for fans of Enid Blyton or detective stories, aged 8–11. We’re fortunate to finally have them in English!
