A Soviet doctor residing near Leningrad, Evdokiia endured the hellscape of Nazi occupation as a civilian from 1941 to 1943 in a depopulated city. Her unlikely memoirs, written in Australia and forgotten in archives for decades, tell the story of tough survival against all odds, and the many challenges and grave choices civilians faced in the vicinity of besieged Leningrad.

Professor Mark Edele will be performing the launching honors and joining Dr Oleg Beyda in a conversation about women at war, the many identity changes under the Soviets, and migration from Eastern Europe.
