Infinity Drake: the Sons of Scarlatti by John McNally

Those who love serious action will enjoy this story about Finn (short for Infinity), who is co-opted into trying to save the world from a terrifying mastermind. When Finn is inadvertently shrunk to the size of an insect it makes his task extremely difficult, but it is great fun reading about the way he uses his small size to his advantage.

This book is a pacy science-fiction story with many intricate, realistic action scenes, in some parts even providing the reader with the sensation of being inside a computer game. Two of the most enjoyable characters are Finn’s feisty and resourceful grandmother, and Al, his hapless, vague, unconventional and completely brilliant uncle.

This is high-octane adventure and escapism for readers aged 9 to 13 years.
