Zarebski: Piano Quintet, Quartet, Plowright
This recording from two obscure Polish composers is another first for the Hyperion label. Both works are excellent examples of chamber music from the Romantic period and wouldn’t be out of place beside Schumann, Mendelssohn or even Schubert. The skill of both composers is obvious from the opening notes, and they are fortunate that Jonathan Plowright and the Szymanowski Quartet play with great passion throughout. Credit must be given to Hyperion for bringing these works to the attention of the music buying public. Highly recommended.
