To Night Owl from Dogfish by Meg Wolitzer & Holly Goldberg Sloan

To Night Owl from Dogfish is a whip-smart and funny tween drama about two twelve-year-old girls, Bett Devlin and Avery Bloom, whose dads plan to marry each other. Written in epistolary form, the reader is privy to the personal emails between Bett and Avery as they learn not only about these impending nuptials but also the coordinated plan to send both girls to summer camp so that they can meet and develop a sisterly bond. Bett and Avery are each the only child of a single dad. The merge into a larger family unit and change to sharing attention around don’t appeal to either of them, so they plot to break up the dads!

Bett and Avery are fantastic characters full of wit and charm. Raised on opposite coasts of America and with vastly different personalities, these girls surprise even themselves when they come to love each other as only sisters can. But everything gets turned on its head – choosing a sister doesn’t guarantee a marriage will follow.
