[[sapphires1]]The 1968-set Australian film musical The Sapphires – written by the son of one of the band’s original members – received a standing ovation at Cannes and is preparing for much local adoration and toe-tapping.

The soundtrack features renditions of the catchiest 60s soul tunes as sung by some of Australia’s best indigenous vocal talent, including the incredible Jessica Mauboy. Along with songs already in your head by the end of this review like ‘I Can’t Help Myself (Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch)’ and ‘I Heard it Through the Grapevine’, the original modernised-60s track ‘Gotcha’ will delight and entertain.
