Prokofiev, Janine Jansen

There is something immensely satisfying about Prokofiev Violin repertoire. With a luscious sounds from the violin and alternatively heavy and light orchestrations this is music that is always delightful. This particular recording is with Janine Jansen taking the title role as soloist, London Philharmonic and Vladimir Jurowski creating another world around her. There is the full range of emotions in each of these works. From the sparse and conversational Sonata for 2 Violins to the seemingly confused and moody Sonata for Violin and Piano. I was surprised at how much I enjoyed listening to this recording, so much so that once it finished I simply pressed play again to start all over from the beginning.
