Child Bride by Hannah Cohen
When Cohen was a teenager she left home and travelled the world working as a model. After settling in New York, she started taking her own photographs, publishing a book of her work. Bored with, you know, being a model and taking cool photographs, she then started teaching herself guitar and built up a collection of songs she’d perform as late-night house parties were winding down.
If this all sounds like the plot of a film aimed at making you feel inadequate, then, well, you’re probably right. It’s probably in the works right now, with Cohen writing, producing and directing. Basically, she can do anything and her debut album Child Bride is really rather lovely. The first single is the heartbroken ‘Crying Game’, which sounds like something written in the wee hours.
