Bach, Nathalie Stutzmann
I have waxed lyrical about Nathalie Stutzmann and her many talents a number of times before so when her latest recording landed upon my desk I was thrilled to listen to it. Although slightly disappointed to see it was a compilation album (I’d love to see what she does with an extended work as singer and conductor) it is nonetheless a beautiful homage to that omnipresent composer, Bach. There are some terrific arias on this recording, interspersed with Sinfonias that allow her purpose built ensemble to show off their skills with great flair. I have to say, these might be my favourite moments, as they let loose under the directorship of Stutzmann herself.
