Ruby is a young girl growing up in rural Mississippi. Her biggest concern is finding her father who left the family soon after her birth. She befriends a black girl who attends her school after integration in the turbulent sixties. She taps her strength from her granny, who always assures her of the security of family. Ruby only wants the truth which often brings more questions than answers.
