After Happenstance and Against the Tide, Three's a Charm is the third volume of my memoir. Having brought a Kenyan family of 6 from my Peace Corps assignment to America, we settled on a small farm in Tenino, WA where Charity and I had a son. We braved 6 years on the homestead until my employer, Weyerhaeuser Co., wanted us to move to Tacoma. I left the company and did contract work, but the contracts dried up. In desperation, I went back to UC Davis to finish my master's degree. Because of some mishaps, communications broke off with the family in Washington; a divorce followed. I eventually met my second wife at Davis. We both finished our degrees and went to work in Hawaii. After 14 years Mary left me for another man, leading to a second divorce. When my mother died in my care in Hawaii, I went to find my high school sweetheart and first fiancee, to whom I have now been happily married for 25 years. My life was filled with happenstance but has now come full circle with a son and a daughter, by my second wife, and finally a faithful wife whom I have known since I was 15 years old.
