The word 'paraphysics' has never been precisely defined, but it literally means beyond normal physics. Otherwise, it can be likened to Bio- psychophysics or even Neurocosmology which are sometimes used to replace the word when explanation is hard. Paraphysics is frowned upon by the scientific community if accepted at all, so to establish paraphysics as a true science, the word is first defined, and its scope and limits identified to familiarize everyone with it. The natural phenomena that are studied in paraphysics, psi and other anomalous phenomena, are distinguished by their common physical properties. The historical roots of paraphysics back to the late nineteenth-century are also discussed. It is clearly shown that Paraphysics can be defined, represented by a specific body of natural, although non-normal, phenomena and it has a historical basis. Therefore, Paraphysics is a science distinguishable upon its own merits albeit unpopular. It only needs a theoretical foundation.
