Reinforced Concrete Design I Lecture Notes
Peter Kattan
These are the handwritten notes for the Reinforced Concrete Design I course that was taught at Applied Science University by Dr. Peter Kattan in the period 2000-2002. The notes are based on the book "Reinforced Concrete Design " by Wang and Salmon, Third Edition. This book is currently out of print. Students find these notes useful and it is good to find them in one single volume. The author hopes to make these notes available to students worldwide and also to revive the Wang and Salmon book. These notes are for the first course on reinforced concrete design. A sequel to this book will also be available to cover the topics of column design, two-way slab design and footing design. The book includes the following chapters: 1. Introduction, 2. Design Methods, 3. Strength of Rectangular Sections in Bending, 4. Shear Strength and Shear Reinforcement, 5. Development of Reinforcement - Bond, Anchorage, and Reinforcing Details, 6. Continuity in Bulding Frames of Reinforced Concrete, 7. Design of One-Way Slabs.
