The whole basis of Christianity, and thus salvation is to believe in Jesus Christ. Believing we are saved because we attend church or attempt to be a nice person, plus undertake the activities our church asks of us, is not the same as understanding how and why Jesus is our Christ, for us to thus believe in Him.
