Robbie, a 9-year-old with a vivid imagination, builds an "airplane time machine" from cardboard boxes in his playroom, despite teasing from his older brothers, Gabe and Andrew. As Robbie pushes buttons and twists knobs, the airplane time machine suddenly comes to life, flying through space past planets like Mars and Saturn. They land on the moon, where they meet the friendly Man in the Moon, who tells them how much he enjoys when children on Earth look up and talk to him.
