Unfortunately, if the Statue of Liberty drowns in the port of New York, there will be no future, for the rest of the world is not able to exert a civilizing influence on mankind. Hence, the aim of this book is to understand why what was supposed to bring peace, civilization and goodness to the whole planet failed, which will someday enable us to make the world a better place. This is our moral duty, for the universe was not created to witness our downfall.
