Two years ago, firefighter Ryker Bridge was trapped in a burning building, and he has the scars to prove it. Frankie Crowder lost her husband in that same fire.

When Frankie and her son need a hero to help pull off their Christmas play, they call on Ryker. Except that Ryker doesn't leave the house. He can't stand the way people look at him. Like he's a monster.

But he can't say no to his late best friend's wife. And though he tries to stay in the shadows, the beautiful Frankie and her five-year-old son don't make that easy.
