Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking-Glass
Lewis Carroll
Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking-Glass together in one volume with more than 90 original illustrations by John Tenniel. Alice's Adventures in Wonderland tells the story of Alice, a young, curious girl who follows a white rabbit down a rabbit hole and into Wonderland. There, she encounters some of the strangest and most peculiar creatures, including the Cheshire Cat and the Mad Hatter. Carroll regularly experimented with logic, wordplay, and mathematical puzzles, successfully creating an intriguing make-believe world. Alice's Adventures in Wonderland is one of the most famous and beloved of children's books, as well as adult readers. The book has been translated into 174 languages. The story of Through the Looking-Glass describes Alice's adventures as she moves symbolically from child to adult in a strange world entered through a mirror above her drawing-room fireplace. The landscape there is in the form of a giant chess board and Alice enters the game as a white pawn.
