One of the main interests for animal nutrition is the relation between nutrition and gut health, especially that of the small intestine. This topic was discussed at a workshop organized by the Dutch Animal Feed Product Board. The organizers of the workshop felt that the various scientific contributions to this workshop were of interest for a much broader public. Therefore it was decided to adapt the lectures of the workshop for publication.
