This reference work contains essays on the role of the right to development in the development assistance policies of Norway and the European Union. These thematic studies aim to provide a better perspective on the place of the right to development, a human right which was recognized by the General Assembly of the United nations in 1986. There are also seven country reports assessing human rights trends in the South between 1993 and 1995 - the countries covered are Bhutan, egypt, El Salvador, Ethiopia, India, Mexico and Uganda.
