A Second Life For Buildings
Cayetano Cardelus Vidal
Transforming existing architecture and assigning it a new use for which it was not conceived entails an exhaustive process of historical, technical and functional exploration. The undoubted sustainability component of such interventions, often on disused buildings, can be summed up in a clear and concise maxim: the greenest building is the one that is already built . Through projects of various scales, often surprising but always sensitive to the historical context in which they are situated, A SECOND LIFE FOR BUILDINGS illustrates the interesting process of reconversion of built architecture. AUTHOR: Cayetano Cardelus Vidal was born in Seville and is an architect from the Escola Tecnica Superior d'Arquitectura de Barcelona (1992), specialising in Projects, Urban Planning and History. All through his professional life he has combined architecture with specialised architectural publications. He has worked with Loft Publishing, editing other best selling architecture books such as Green Architecture Today, Sustainable Homes and Kindergarten Architecture.
