In June 1815, the great and the good of British Society are in Brussels for the Duchess of Richmond’s ball. It’s the eve of the Battle of Waterloo, and many of the handsome young male guests will soon find themselves on the battlefield. Twenty-five years later the upwardly mobile family of Sophia Trenchard, the young and beautiful daughter of Wellington’s chief supplier, moves into the fashionable new area of Belgravia. In this new world, the aristocracy rub shoulders with the emerging nouveau riche, but some would prefer the secrets of the past to remain buried…
