Childhood Depression, its Implications and Interference in Teaching

P M Suzi Buanga Paulo Buanga

The intention to research this topic is intrinsically related to the concern about the serious social problems that Angola is experiencing, among others, such as education, which is marked by many difficulties, especially with regard to the teaching-learning process influenced by various factors, including Childhood Depression. Rather, the product of professional concerns that have arisen, especially over the years as a teacher, dissatisfaction with the unattainable ideals in my pedagogical practice, with future teachers and with teachers, has led to the need to critically reflect on technical knowledge and that acquired through teaching experience, in order to better understand the actions carried out on a daily basis. This was even more pronounced given the complexity of my reflections on issues relating to Childhood Depression, ethics, the social role of teachers and the family, among others. In Angola, particularly in the province of Cabinda, Childhood Depression is still little or not discussed by health professionals, as its symptoms are often ignored due to a lack of knowledge.
