Accessibility Inspection of Mobile Applications and Commercial Websites
Eduardo Almeida Soares, Daniel Furtado Leite
The advent and popularization of information and communication technologies (ICTs) has created profit opportunities for companies that make efficient use of them in this field. Organizations that have accessible applications and websites for mobile devices gain a competitive advantage over their competitors, as well as being socially responsible. The aim of this book is to carry out inspections of commercial mobile apps and websites in Brazil. An adapted version of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 is used for this task. The study discusses the efficiency of screen-reading tools for the iOS and Android operating systems, the level of compliance of these apps and commercial websites in Brazil, as well as the adaptations used in WCAG 2.0 to adapt it to the context of mobile devices. It is also suggested that studies be carried out with people with disabilities in order to more efficiently analyze the main problems affecting these users, thus helping to create an empirical basis for establishing a set of recommendations for good programming practices.
