The book looks at the position of the newspaper Estado de S. Paulo in its editorials during the impeachment processes of presidents Fernando Collor de Mello in 1992 and Dilma Rousseff in 2016, drawing a parallel with the past conflicts between journalism and politics. In all, there were 10 editorials in 1992; two in September, one in October, four in November and three in December. In 2016, 11 editorials were analysed: three in April, four in May, one in June, one in July and two in August. This study uses content analysis to unravel the two troubled moments in Brazilian political life from the point of view of one of the country's largest newspapers. In the end, it can be concluded that there was a difference in the way the paper treated the two cases. With regard to President Fernando Collor de Mello, the publication laments the end of the former president's government, while with regard to President Dilma Rousseff, the paper is betting that Brazil will do better without her.
