The National Strategy for the Conservation of Tapirs in Ecuador is a collective effort of researchers, institutions and other organizations committed to the protection and conservation of the Tapirus genus in Ecuador, the result of a multidisciplinary and interinstitutional work during several years that combines the fields of research, management, conservation and community participation for decision making and the elaboration of lines and action plans for the conservation of this highly representative and threatened genus of the neotropical forests of Ecuador, South America and the world.
