The economic impact of secondary school enrolment

The aim of this paper is to analyze the economic weight of secondary schooling in household budgets in the city of Kindu. In this study, we used the non-probabilistic occasional sampling technique of surveying households (individuals) who were available to answer our closed and open-ended questions. In formulating the closed questions, we opted for a binary choice to facilitate econometric data processing using Eviews 9.0 software. Schooling a child is a cost for households, especially for children at secondary level. In this study, we have shown that the cost of sending children to school is close to 80% of average household income in the town of Kindu, and that socio-economic factors are behind the increase in the weight of children attending school during the last school year.
