A obra faz um breve estudo sobre a regulamentacao dos lubrificantes no Brasil, a poluicao gerada pelo descarte indiscriminado de oleos, agregada a uma proposta de menor impacto para a industria de lubrificantes. Neste cenario, foram avaliados os oleos de babacu e andiroba, ambos nativos da regiao amazonica. Estes foram caracterizados em laboratorios da regiao nordeste do pais, por meio de um programa interlaboratorial, posteriormente modificados quimicamente de modo a atender as especificacoes previstas pela agencia reguladora.
