El agua subterranea en el Estado de Yucatan es altamente vulnerable a la contaminacion debido a la naturaleza carstica del suelo y al vertido de las aguas residuales directamente al manto acuifero, en la mayoria de los casos sin tratamiento alguno, lo cual representa un riesgo a la salud humana y ambiental. El presente trabajo tuvo como objetivos el determinar la variacion de la calidad del agua del acuifero de Yucatan del ano 2003 al ano 2008, en funcion de los nitratos presentes; asi como establecer la calidad bacteriologica del agua subterranea del acuifero del Estado de Yucatan durante los anos 2007 y 2008, y determinar el posible origen de la contaminacion bacteriologica durante este mismo periodo.
