The problem of alcohol abuse has become a matter of serious public concern, especially on account of its proliferation among the youth of various socio-cultural and economic statuses. Although there are no definite figures to show the actual extent of the problem, the rising number of alcohol abuse approaches to drug counselling and de-addiction centres indicate the increasing magnitude and extent of the problem. Alcohol abuse is a burning issue and an important area of research at the moment.
