The second volume of the People’s demonology Polesie continues four-volume edition of field data on traditional demonology of the Ukrainian and Belarusian Polesie, as well as the adjoining southern Russian regions. The book contains an extensive body of mythological texts written in 80-90th. XX century. Polesskaya ethnolinguistic expedition. The submissions are provided with detailed commentary and scientific references. The second volume of the publication includes texts that contain ideas about the mythologized posthumous manifestations of man (soul, dead, ancestors of the soul), as well as mythological characters, originating from the unclean dead, which include children who die unbaptized, suicide, walking dead and mermaids.
