Military encyclopedic lexicon was published for the first time from 1837 to 1850 and has 14 primary volumes and one additional (released in 1852). This great work owes its appearance almost exclusively energy and perseverance of its editor Baron LI Zeddelera on which lay the whole bulk of the work. In essence, the Lexicon is the first Russian military encyclopedia (before it left only the two-volume Military Dictionary Tuchkova SA, in 1818). In 1852-1858 gg. It was carried out the second revised edition under the direction of M. Bogdanovich, which we publish. On the proposal of Lieutenant General Baron NV Medem, second Izanami Lexicon by the Academy of Sciences was awarded the Demidov Prize.
