Annette Streyl: Kehraus
Belinda Grace Gardner
This title contains text by Belinda Grace Gardner. Annette Streyl creates miniature works of architecture out of knitted fabric, presented with and without a supporting frame, sometimes limp like washing on a clothesline, sometimes as compact, three-dimensional entities. These structures refer to the changeability or fragility of the political and social constructions in which human beings supposedly establish themselves permanently. In her usage of representational buildings, Streyl is transforming concrete architecture into reduced abstractions or reflective sites of power, while, on the other hand, investigating the idea of’ architecture as language’ through which firms and institutions seek to position themselves in society. It features text in English and German.
