Qi Yang: Beyond the Heaven
Qi Yang: Beyond the Heaven
The Beyond The Heaven project deals with perceptions of everyday personal experiences in China and Germany. Qi Yang is a Chinese artist resident in Dusseldorf whose search for his identity and experience of making his home in Western Europe in an era of ideological change in both China and Germany are expressively displayed in his art. Two cultures, two languages and two mentalities pulsate in his work. This title features his entire work in painting, objects, installation, photography and video. Each work, created during the last four years in Germany and China, portrays a new aspect of contemporary art in the 21st century. The book has been published on the occasion of the exhibition Qi Yang: Beyond The Heaven at the National Art Museum of China, Peking, October 2005; Ludwig Museum Koblenz, January 2006; and Von der Heydt-Museum Wuppertal, June 2006.
