Daniel Mohr: Back to Nature
Eugen Blume,Christian Malycha
The main theme of Daniel Mohr’s paintings is painting itself. His pictures do not contain political aims, social critiques or narrative structures. Following the example of his teacher Baselitz, Mohr’s works are painted plainly - painting as a perceived reality, not as an abstract relationship of colour. His subject matter: horizontal panoramas, bathing scenes in narrow public swimming pools, views over the waterfront to a shimmering sea and beach scenes have no narrative content. This limited range of themes emphasizes the quality of his painting. This title has been published on the occasion of the exhibition Daniel Mohr: Back to Nature, at Galerie Levy, Hamburg, January - February 2007.
