This is a comprehensive study of six multi-movement choral a cappella settings of Edna St. Vincent Millay sonnets composed by Stacey Garrop. The purpose of the document is to aid potential performers of Garrop’s work through an analysis of harmonic and structural foundations as well as to outline potential difficulties of each movement. It is my hope that this document can lay the groundwork for future performances of these wonderful works.
