Se estudia el caso de un dique-deslizamiento, en la tenencia de Huahua, municipio de Aquila Mich. El dia 3 de octubre de 2008, el deslizamiento del cerro La Hujera, origino el taponamiento del rio Huahua, provocando la inundacion de zonas aguas arriba del dique-deslizamiento. Utilizando Sistemas de Informacion Geografica (SIG), se caracteriza la cuenca del rio Huahua; se determinan los parametros morfometricos, cobertura vegetal, tipo y uso de suelo. Se aplica el metodo racional para determinar el escurrimiento liquido maximo a la salida de la cuenca, y la FUPS para el gasto solido; se utilizan diferentes periodos de retorno y un coeficiente de escurrimiento en funcion de los periodos de retorno considerados.
