In 1878, the eight Slavic Dances for Piano (four hands) were composed - later arranged for orchestra - that appeared help Dvorak’s international recognition. The dances are among Dvorak’s best known piano literature. It uses no original melody, but rather relates characteristic elements of slavic dance music into the characteristic melodic invention.
