Upton Sinclair, the Pulitzer Prize-winning American author is best known as a muckraker after his first and best-known novel The Jungle (1906). Since the publication of his early novels novel there appeared more than 90 books in several genres. Upton Sinclair’s works, the Lanny Budd series or The World’s End series have been known all over the English speaking world and have been translated and published in many countries from France to Japan and from India to Sweden and Hungary. His novels became popular because they were straightforward, rapidly moving stories and contained an interest in America as a whole. All his novels tackled world history mainly from an American angle in the first half of the 20th century.
