This study on the issue of gay relationships in churches in Kenya, and how the clergy handle this taboo issue is constructed around their pastoral training and personal perspective on the subject, based on the African psychological standpoint on the matter and Albert Bandura’s Social Learning Theory. The majority of clergy will often condemn this matter in the strongest terms in public and in the pulpit. However, their tune begin to change when they are faced with the same matter in their personal lives e.g. when it is their son who turns out to be gay. The study findings capture the views of the church members and the clergy as they depict the church-gay relationships, and the denial/two-pronged state of the clergy in addressing the issue, not only in the world but also in the church in Kenya.
